Local focus

Nice faces drought pressure and high summer demand. Let’s save water at school and home.

Show global context

Tip of the day

Turn off the tap while brushing.

Why it matters in Nice

Water scarcity is made worse by drought, climate change, and rising demand. In Nice, tourism and hot summers can increase pressure on local water use. Our project focuses on what habits students and families can realistically change to save water #DropByDrop.

Local issue
High demand + drought risk → waste matters more than people think.
School habits
Leaks, long taps, and daily routines add up fast when multiplied by hundreds of students.
Home habits
Shorter showers and smarter water use can reduce waste without “big sacrifices”.

Our action

Here's what our team did during the campaign.

1
Research & planning
Local water context in Nice + global perspectives + survey planning.
2
Awareness materials
Awareness-raising Stand, Informative and awareness posters, website creation, and simple water-saving tips.
3
Survey + engagement
Collected responses from the school community to measure awareness and habits.
4
Challenge + reflection
Encouraged a 7-day challenge, compared survey responses from before and after action, and took feedback.

Easy ways to save water

Small actions. Big impact when everyone does them.

Turn off the tap
While brushing teeth or soaping hands. It can save 12L of water/day!
Report leaks
A dripping tap can waste a surprising amount over time (15L/day).
Shorter showers
Try reducing by 1–2 minutes this week. This would save 20L/shower!
Refill bottles
Refill instead of buying new ones. Saves 3L by avoiding manufacturing.
Full loads
Dishwasher (save 10L) / washing machine (save 25L): fewer cycles = less water.
Be mindful
Close taps fully. Don’t “leave it running”. Running taps waste 6L/hour.
